Stages of the Trademark Registration Process
Preliminary Research: It’s crucial to ensure that the trademark intended for registration is distinctive and won’t be confused with existing similar trademarks. Kapital Patent provides in-depth market research during this phase to evaluate the trademark’s registrability.
Application: Once it’s determined that the trademark is registrable, an application is filed with the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT). Accurate and complete documentation is essential during the application process.
Examination and Publication: TÜRKPATENT examines the application for compliance with form and content. If there are no issues, the trademark application is published in the Official Trademark Bulletin, giving third parties the opportunity to file objections.
Registration and Protection: After the objection period, if there are no objections, the trademark is registered, and protection is granted. This registration is valid throughout Turkey and ensures exclusive use of the trademark for a period of 10 years.
